Sycamore Tree Capital Partners Adds Two Institutional Marketing Leads

Experienced duo Amanda Montgomery and Marc Gonyea join as Managing Directors

DALLAS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Sycamore Tree Capital Partners (“Sycamore Tree”), a specialist asset manager with private and alternative credit investment expertise, announced today that Amanda Montgomery and Marc Gonyea have joined the firm in leadership marketing roles, as Sycamore continues to grow its relationships with institutional investors and consultants.

Montgomery arrives from Allianz Global Investors as Managing Director. At Allianz, she spent eight years in relationship management and sales roles, including as the Senior Relationship Manager responsible for the South-West region. Prior to Allianz, Montgomery was an institutional allocator at San Diego City Employees Retirement System, where she was Head of Public Markets for both fixed income and equities. Her career also includes positions with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and the US Navy.

Gonyea joins from Alcentra as Managing Director with a start date of July 1. At Alcentra, he was a Managing Director responsible for institutional clients across channels and regions in the US. Gonyea was also a senior marketer at Benefit Street Partners and held similar positions at Och-Ziff Capital, The Blackstone Group, Goldman Sachs, and Bankers Trust.

“We are delighted to welcome Amanda and Marc, two highly accomplished marketing professionals, to Sycamore Tree,” said Jack Yang, President. “As our representatives to the investor community, we believe they personify the experience, culture and client focus that differentiates our firm. They join at an exciting time, as we continue to field interest from a global base of investors exploring allocations to alternative fixed income strategies such as bank loans, CLOs and structured credit.”

A recent survey of institutional investors across the U.S., Europe and the U.K., conducted by Aeon Investments, revealed that 87% of pension funds and other institutional investors believe structured credit products provide the potential to improve yield and risk-adjusted returns. Seventy-five percent have made structured credit allocations to specialist areas of corporate finance in the past 18 months, while 73% intend to do the same over the next 18 months.

The news follows Sycamore Tree CLO Advisors’ closing of its inaugural Collateralized Loan Obligation (“CLO”), Sycamore Tree CLO 2021-1, which totaled $403.3 million and is co-managed by Scott Farrell and Paul Travers, industry veterans and Managing Directors at the firm.
